College Run Farms
Forget getting your fruit at a supermarket. Drive through strawberry and blueberry picking is the way to go. Take the family for some fun in the corn mazes and pumpkin picking in the fall.

Smith’s Fort Plantation
Located in Jamestown across the James River, this historical plot of land is where Captain John Smith began building the New Fort in 1609. That fort was never fully finished, but the land was given to Pocahontas in 1614 as a wedding present from her father Chief Wahunsenacawh. The house you see now was built in 1761 by Jacob Falcoun, retaining most of its original pine woodwork. It was later restored by John D. Rockeffler Jr. in the early 1930s.

Chippokes State Park
Outdoor activities mixed with some natural and cultural history makes for a great day on the James River. From picnic areas to a swimming pool, beach, equestrian trails, campgrounds and cabins, there’s lots to do. You can step back in time at the farm museum and historic houses. The 1400 acre farm was established in 1619 and is named after an old Algonquian Indian Chief, Choapoke.

Bacons Castle
The oldest brick building in North America, Bacon’s Castle was home to a merchant and planter by the name of Arthur Allen but became known as Bacon’s Castle in 1676 during Nathaniel Bacon’s Rebellion. The house was restored in the 1980’s by Preservation Virginia and offers 45-minute guided tours or self-guided tours. You can also visit the 17th Century English Formal Gardens or have a picnic on the grounds

New Kent Winery
From wine tasting to special events such as weddings, concerts, trivia nights and more, New Kent Winery features an unparalleled selection of estate-grown and hand-crafted Virginia wines. Committed to quality, their tasting room and vineyards are worth a visit.

Busch Gardens
Have a family fun day with bumper cars, rollercoasters, river or sky rides, white water rafting, flumes, kiddie rides, exciting shows, animals, dining, and more. Visit their website for great discounts and special seasonal events.

Water Country
With Virginia’s first water coaster, Water Country is not to be missed. Feel the exhilaration of swooshing down the vast variety of water slides or relax in pools and rivers. There’s even a special area just for kids, and much needed cabanas and cocktails for adults.
